Meet the Team
Jon Shimmons – PGA Director of Golf
Jon qualified as a PGA Professional back in 1997 at Airlinks GC in Middlesex. He moved to Dorset in 1999 and spent two years as an assistant at Broadstone GC before taking up the role of Head Professional at Ashley Wood GC, where he spent 14 years. Jon took a step up the career ladder when he became the Director of Golf here at Wareham GC in May 2015.
Matt Williams – PGA Assistant Professional
Matt started playing at Killiow GC in Cornwall, and got down to 1 handicap at Trevose GC before moving to Bournemouth University where he studied Sports Management and Golf. He then turned Professional while working at Dudsbury GC in 2014, where he undertook his PGA training.
Matt is a very enthusiastic coach, and plays in many Professional tournaments both locally, nationally and internationally in Regional PGA tournaments as well as on a number of Professional Tours. He is very keen to promote his coaching here at Wareham as one of the Elite Performance Coaches to the Bournemouth University golf squad and looks forward to being a part of Wareham golf club`s future success. The pro shop is fully stocked with many of the major brands, and as a Foremost golf member Jon has access to all makes and models of golf equipment and clothing. He will also match any locally advertised price!

Junior Section
JUNIOR ACADEMY – Every Saturday!
For juniors aged 6 – 18, learn to play golf, meet new friends and have fun.
Only £6.00 a session and all equipment is provided.
